Assistant Professor of Social Psychology
NORTHEASTERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY, Department of Psychology invites applications for a tenure track position for an Assistant Professor in Social Psychology (Ph.D. required upon appointment). Our department promotes excellence in both teaching and research and has a curriculum centered around psychological research principles. The successful candidate is expected to maintain a research program in Social Psychology and to involve students (both undergraduate and master’s students) in their research. Excellent candidates will have relevant training in Social Psychology, and preference will be given to those focusing on areas such as (but not limited to) the study of race, culture, gender, development of intersectional identities, prejudice and discrimination, or interpersonal relationships.

Requirements The successful applicant will teach new and existing courses in Psychology such as introductory social psychology, laboratory class in social psychology, undergraduate and MA-level capstone and thesis projects, and other elective courses. Applicants may also have opportunities to teach courses in affiliated departments such as Latina/o and Latin American Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, and African and African American Studies. They should expect to mentor both undergraduate and graduate students as well as to contribute to service in departmental, university and community activities.
