The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences and Neuroscience Program at Colgate University invites applications for one or two positions at the rank of Visiting Assistant Professor beginning in the Fall semester of 2025. The term of the position(s) is one year, with the possibility of renewal for one or two additional years depending on the evaluation of teaching effectiveness and institutional need. Both positions are open to area, though emphasis on cognitive, social, personality, developmental, or clinical psychology is encouraged. Successful candidates will be expected to teach staff-taught courses (e.g., Introduction to Psychological Science, Research Methods, or Quantitative Methods), upper-level courses in the candidate’s specialty area, and supervision of senior thesis work. Successful candidates may also be expected to participate in all-university programs, including the Liberal Arts Core Curriculum.
Completion of a Ph.D. in Psychology or a related field is required prior to, or shortly after, the date of hire. The teaching load for this position is equivalent to five courses per year, with one of those courses being supervision of senior thesis work in the candidate’s research area. Please note that Colgate will not sponsor any visa or work authorization for this position.
